Our czech affiliate NFSGame.net has some new information about the next Need for Speed. The statements could not be verified yet, but it might interesting to read though:
…Well, actaully…moving forward on to the next title in the need for speed series, Carbon is eaten prey. Its finished and we have already sufficiently fixed the game from bugs. The 1.3 Patch is out some time and the online mode is finally relieved of bugs, so there is no need to focus on the game anymore and the stuff that just could make it in cannot be applied by a single patch. Its just too complex.
This actually gets at the next nfs title which is currently in early stage developement. What can I say… Well, not much to be honest. I guess that fans have already figured out, that we will announce it officially some time in spring, to be more specific…
It should be mid January, but you cant count on that on 100%,
since things here in EA simply change sometimes… You´ll have to wait for detailed info till then.
But the fact is, that we will find out shortly, who the next NFS girl will be. We have chosen the final five candidates and we will afterwoods pick the right and final one. I can say, that it won´t be :
Laura Southgate
Emma Thomas
Shannan
Sarah Mathers
AshleighMcKenzie
These girls didnt make it, sorry if your favourite one isnt in the list.I guess fans want to see a real sexbomb in the next game.
But you can be happy that the things that couldn´t be in Carbon, will be implanted in Need For Speed 11.
It has to do something with the graphics which we want
to push to the MAX and have 100% next-gen power in use (expecting it with the PS3).
Furthermore, you should get a bigger grip when driving -
more realistic, but not too much. The next game will be a hybrid between a arcade game and a realistic game like the GT series.
In Carbon the drift was heavily modified, in NFS 11 it will be modified overall.
And the last thing is autosculp technology. We are very proud of it, but we will make it better…
Thats really all I could say…Wait for spring and Game Convention 07.

At the moment the following items are available for PC-users. Xbox360 users can purchase them over the Xbox Live Marketplace:
Electronic Arts already offers some accessories and cars for Need for Speed Carbon at the Xbox Live Marketplace for purchase. Castrol Syntec made a nice christmas gift, and Xbox360 users can download the following cars for free:
The Tool SaveEditor by Coderipper has been released in its version 1.27. Reason for this update was that not all spoilers were unlocked for such cars as Mazda Mazdaspeed3, Volkswagen Golf R32, Renault Clio v6.
The handy SaveEditor enables you the following features:
change the amount of money
edit your alias and crew name
modify the "heat" level on any of your cars in career mode
unlock cars, perfomance, visual, aftermarket and autosculpt stuff
repair your savefiles (fix checksum, change cd key)
explore and modify internal data structures of the game
also, there is a free savefile library, which you can use to create your own save modification programs
Until now EA showed on the official website of Need for Speed Carbon only lifeless render models of the cars which are available in the game. But this has changed, most cars have been replaced by screenshots, which show the cars in-game.
Additionally you can download these pictures as wallpapers in the formats 1280x1024, 1024x768 and 800x600. If you want to give your desktop a fresh new look, visit the following website:
As the onlinemagazine Playstation Universe (PSU) reports, the Playstation 3 is too new to unleash all the potential it has. Most current games are not using the full power of the PS2, mostly only 20% of their possibilities - only the future games will be able to take advance of the PS3 power:
Quote: Recently Glenn Entis, Vice President and Chief Visual Officer at Electronic Arts discussed his feelings about the PlayStation 3 console.
When asked, how do the PS3 and Xbox 360 match up? Glenn responded:
"The whole industry knows it's been a challenge; the PS3's a very complex piece of equipment. On one hand it's a challenge, on the other hand there's tremendous potential in that box. I think it's going to take developers a little while to figure out how to unlock that power.
We've got games coming out now where we feel we've hit maybe 20 per cent of the potential of PlayStation 3. We know the power's there, but like any new platform it's going to take us a little bit of time to unleash it.
Was it more complex than we were expecting? Yes, probably; there were some challenges that we didn't expect. We've got tremendous confidence long-term that it's going to be a phenomenal games machine."
So to find that EA has only tapped into 20% of the PS3's power, you look at games like Fight Night Round 3 with amazing graphics and realistic facial animations, it makes you wonder what the PS3 will have in store for us in the future. Like Glenn said,"...We know the power's there, but like any new platform it's going to take us a little bit of time to unleash it."
Additionally the onlinemagazine Gamespot wrote an article about the difference between the Xbox360 and Playstation 3. With mouseover-images you can compare yourself the Xbox360 and the PS3 - also NFS Carbon:
