NFSMW: Interview with Drift Racer Calvan Wan Thursday, 28.07.2005
Calvan WanThere is a new interview with Drift Racer Calvan Wan, the winner from the Sonoma event:

Drifting is a high-skill, high-powered motorsport that calls for drivers to control a 450hp car while it slides sideways at high speed through a marked course. Similar to rally racing, Drift racing is conducted on a closed course and judged on execution and style rather than who finishes the course fastest. Drifting takes all the thrilling moments of traditional motorsports and packs it together into non-stop competition.

Given the rise in popularity of this sport in America, the Need for Speed Community Team (CT) is adding a personal touch with a collection of interviews with several of the Need for Speed Formula Drift drivers. Kicking things off is the winner of the recent Sonoma event, Calvan Wan.

NFSMW: Interview with Larry LaPierre Thursday, 28.07.2005
The onlinemagazine Gamespot published some time ago a Developer Interview with Larry LaPierre, the Senior Producer of Need for Speed Most Wanted. He talks in this video about the car physics - that NFSMW is more simulation-like but they exxagerated certain things "for fun", because simple real simulation just doesn't make so much fun sometimes.
Additionally he talks about the police chases in the open world, racemodes, rankings and multiplayermodes with splitscreen.
The best would be you take a look yourself:

NFSMW: New technology to blend ingame movies with 3d environment Tuesday, 26.07.2005
Electronic Arts has created a new process that takes Hi-Definition footage of live actors and converts them into synthetic-looking videogame characters. This revolutionary new process delivers never-before-seen character, motion and facial fidelity with seamless integration into true 3D game environments.

As we reported lately the actress and model Josie Maran will star in Need for Speed Most Wanted. This has been acknowledged today officially by EA in a press release.
Maran takes on the role of a local street racer named Mia. Maran's character pulls players deeper into the illicit street racing world of Need for Speed Most Wanted as they try to earn respect by beating the top racers on the scene to rise to the top of the Blacklist.
Josie Maran has played supporting roles in hit films including Van Helsing, Aviator and Thelma. She is currently the Maybelline cover girl and has graced covers for Glamour, Self, Vogue, Marie Claire, Seventeen and Lucky Magazine.

"Video games are much more personal than films since it's an interactive experience for the audience; it's like being invited into their home," said Maran. "For Need for Speed Most Wanted, we performed in front of a green screen, much like a Hollywood set, so all the gamers will see will be real-life video of the actors merged into environments from the game; it's simply amazing."

EA has also tapped into top Hollywood talent including director, David Footman, cinematographer, Brian Pearson, as well as EA's own Senior Art Director and two-time Academy Award nominated visual effects supervisor, Habib Zargarpour, for the green screen video shoot with Maran. Footman's credits include blockbuster films such as The Day After Tomorrow and X-Men, Pearson worked on the hit TV show, Dark Angel, as well as feature films, I, Robot and Underworld: Evolution, and Zargarpour worked on Twister and The Perfect Storm.

NFSMW: Josie Maran Monday, 25.07.2005
Josie MaranBrooke Burke was the main character in 'Need for Speed Underground 2'. In the upcoming game 'Need for Speed Most Wanted' the supermodel Josie Maran will play this part. You may know her from the movie 'Van Helsing' or the shoots in 'Maxim'.
In Need for Speed Most Wanted she will guide you through the game and provide useful information to move up on the blacklist.
In contrast to NFS Underground 2, where were just comic strip-like sequences with voice-overs, this time there will be real sequences, just like in a movie. Josie spent a significant amount of time in a green screen room for her many screnes in the game. According to EA the sequences will look something like Sin City, so expect some subtle effects and filters to give it all a surreal look. Stay tuned for more.
