Rumour: NFS Underground 2015? [UPDATE] Sunday, 23.11.2014
Everybody has to decide for themselves if this information is true or not, but someone claiming to be an ex-employee of Ghost Games, who wants revenge, leaked unconfirmed details about the upcoming Need for Speed:

"so ive just been fired from Ghost games so i might aswell leak this,
yes we have skipped a year with NFS games, EA was at first contemplating to shut down the franchise after many titles failed to meet expectations, now as a last ditch effort they gave us more time (and horrendous working hours) to work on the new title Underground: Need For Speed
yes this a Sequel to the Underground series, but to make it seem new we had to reboot it, make it more modern add some of the elements of 2012's NFS most wanted
if you dont believe me, at this years VGX we will anounce the game.
this song will be playing in the trailer"

"and trailer will Feature a Nissan GTR being slowly customized in the style of the opening in NFSU1"

In further comments he/she posted some more information:

"we are still trying to go back to the foundation of Underground by including as many import cars as possible with a healthy amount of european cars, American and Muscle cars are sadly enough almost absent besides the 2014 Ford Mustang Boss, the Customisation can be broken down to Bodykits, widebumper bodykits, spoilers, Rims, spinners, and we also planned to include special parts for Drag races and drift races, you can basicly customise your car for the kind of race you want to do with it, Vinyls and paints also is much more expanded than first, the appearance of your car will mather, if you put it online people can give your car style points, the more style points the more your car is worth"

Also some information about the console versions:

"I also forgot to add, EA is now jumping on the whole Framerate craze and the game will run at 60 fps on all systems altough the ps4 and xbone version are a pain in the ass to make it run well, the trailer we will show will look slightly better than the endgame, 900p on PS4 and 720p on xbone, altoughthe xbone version is struggling to stay at 60 and MS is pressuring us to lower the Ps4 version to 720p too, EA will probably make that call, so if they say it runs at 1080p 60 fps, its damage control"

"we are still in early stages but from what i could see it does try to emulate the Old Nfs feel but with some burnout things like takedowns the handling
Unlocks are done trough the reputation you gain in the city, the higher your rep the better the unlocks, same with cars shops, autolots and all are visible from the beggining"

So far it is information anyone could come up with, so we will have to wait for the Video Game Awards 2014 (formerly VGX / Spike Video Game Awards) in December...

Update:
The » Video Game Awards 2014 are over without losing a word about NFS 2015, which means it was indeed a hoax.

For a "full" Need for Speed we will have to wait for another year, as Ghost Games announced they want to pause in 2014 to take the time to develop the next Need for Speed game.

A new Need for Speed game is in the works for mobile platforms: Need for Speed: No Limits

Ken Block NFS No Limits

Shortly after an EA spokesperson talked with the onlinemagazine IGN and announced that NFS No Limits is a new mobile game:

"We're proud and excited to be given the opportunity to partner with Ken Block on an upcoming mobile game project," said an EA spokesperson. "We've been anticipating seeing this car in action for Gymkhana 7 and sharing more. Details are coming soon."

Although it doesn't seem like NFS No Limits is the new game which Ghost Games is currently working on. The developers of NFS Rivals wanted more time to develop an innovative new NFS game, which is planned for release in 2015, but there are no details yet.

We will keep you posted.
