NFS Undercover featuring RPG elements! Wednesday, 15.10.2008
NFS UndercoverAt the end of September we had the opportunity to take a short look at a newer build of the upcoming Need for Speed Undercover in Munich, Germany. Among other things we were introduced into the so-called Wheelman Skills for the first time.

Basically, this is some kind of an award system well-known from several role playing games: With every finished race your abilities like engine, transmission or reduced dealership prices, will be improved according to race progress, so you can take advantage of reduced shifting times or higher top speed in future (multiplayer) races.

NFS UndercoverFor those of you being bothered by the graphic errors and pixelated shadows in the gameplay videos: Producer Jesse Abney affirmed that work on the graphics engine is not yet finished and fixing stuff like above is still on schedule. In addition, the version I was able to play looks in my opinion already better than the gameplay videos and the GC demo version did.

Additionally we have some new pictures in our screenshots-section:

Dramen, as I already said, it should be a very similar MP mode to COD4's one which means that it will be like a story mode. You first gonna receive a shit car and while you win races you gonna get new cars and parts or something like that.

??

Eh? So...people in MP will have better cars than us even if ours are fully tuned depending on how much they've won?

Sounds like a good thing for hackers to exploit

I don;t understand how this will be balanced in MP. In story mode it sounds fine having this sort of advantage.

Will need to test for my self i guess

Those RPG would be nice. COD4 has some RPG elements in it's multiplayer mode and it really fit well.
