NFSU2: Infos about the game modes Saturday, 19.06.2004
Until now Electronic Arts didn't want to give us any information about the new game modes of Need for Speed Underground 2, because of the competition (Juiced). Our affiliate ND4SPDWorld knows from a reliable source, that there will be a new gamemode called Outrun. In this mode you apparently race against one guy. Your opponent has to stay about 300m in front of you to win. If you pass him, you become the leader and will win if you can get a distance of 300m on him.
Drifting won't be on the tracks as we had them in Underground 1. But all on open roads. So you can drive down a mountain and drift there.
And another small thing, your visial tuning will effect the performance of your car.

NFSU2: Interview with Greg Uhler Saturday, 19.06.2004
Electronic Arts made an interview with Greg Uhler, the producer of Need for Speed Underground 2. He talks about the improvements comparing to the predecessor, the weather effects and the sense of speed. Additionally he mentioned Brooke Burke, who - as we reported - plays the character "Rachel" in the game. But Greg Uhler said her name would be "Rebecca". So the real name we will get to know, when the game is released, which will be at the beginning of November.

NFSU2: Brooke Burke in the game Friday, 18.06.2004
NFS Underground 2As Electronic Arts announced yesterday, one of the world’s sexiest thrill seekers and cover girls, Brooke Burke, is going to star in Need For Speed Underground 2.

Burke plays the streetwise organizer of an elite underground racing circuit. Her character, Rachel, takes gamers under her wing, guiding them through the game’s massive free-roaming city, helping them become the top racer in the underground.

"I’m an absolute adrenaline junkie and car freak in real life, so starring in Need for Speed Underground 2 is a huge thrill," Burke said. "Need for Speed Underground 2 really captures one of the reasons I love my cars so much – they’re a canvas for self-expression."

NFSU2: 2 new First-Looks Friday, 18.06.2004
NFS Underground 2Electronic Arts showed some few journalists a Pre-Alpha version of Need for Speed Underground 2, and the two onlinemagazines IGN and Gamespot wrote a preview.

Excerpt from IGN's First Look:

Like NFSU, Black Box's sequel plays at nighttime, and the streets are indeed wet. Despite several criticisms about all the courses being dark wet streets in the previous game, Osieja defended the decision, explaining that the race culture only takes place at night, and they want to be as authentic as possible. The team also has listened very carefully to focus tests and fans of the series. In response, the courses are now designed with drunk bumps, or as Osieja called them, cat eyes (the little reflective bumps in the center lane of a freeway designed to help direct cars drive in their lane) that shine as your headlights hit them. Cat Eyes also appear on the guard rails, and both create a much better navigational sensibility.

Additionally you can watch an interview with an developer at the preview site of Gamespot.

IGN therefore shows a new movie, which shows the game in action.
