| NFS C: Get ready for 5.1 Surround Sound |

 If you own a 5.1 Surround Sound System you may have missed the 5.1 sound in NFS Most Wanted, but you will be delighted to hear this:
We've really spent a lot of time this year trying to get all the authentic cars in the game recorded, as well as even more aggressive sounding cars for a change in exhaust tone when you upgrade the performance of your engine1. Not only do we have a ton of new cars recorded, but we also have added a new feature which is a seperate engine recording for every car in the game. What this means is that when you change your camera view, you should hear a distinct difference in exhaust and engine sound. This is also noticable on your opponent's and crew member's cars as they drive near you. You'll hear engine sound as they approach behind, which will change to exhaust sound as they pass by you. The effect is much better if you have a 5.1 surround setup, in which case you will hear your player car engine in the front and the exhaust in the rear surround speakers, or the AI racers coming up from behind in the rear speakers and transitioning to the front (or vice versa). Also, depending in wether your car is a front or mid/rear engine car, you will get an appropriate mix of engine/exhaust when you're driving in 3rd person camera.
Im really excited about the car audio this year and Im looking forward to hearing some feedback from all of you once the game is released in November (or after you play the demo).

1) To be more specific, each class and tier of car has a different number of engine upgrades available. The first engine upgrade you make, you will not hear a change in audio, it will be a physics only upgrade (ie. the car will perform better, but the sound will be the same). The second engine upgrade you make, your exhaust note will sound different/more powerful. The only exception to this rule are cars with only one upgrade available, in which case you will get a new exhaust sound on the first upgrade (hehe, except for the CarerraGT, we couldnt find a better sounding car to record that would work as an upgrade :))
PC, Xbox, Xbox360 and PS3 (and hopefully Wii) will support Dolby Digital 5.1, PS2 and Gamecube will support Pro-Logic II surround.

| NFS C: Collector´s Edition also in Europe |

EA seems to have learned from last year's NFS Most Wanted. In Europe the NFSMW Black Edition was only available for Playstation 2, but with Need for Speed Carbon things should be different.
Amazon.de (Germany) added the Need for Speed Carbon Collector's Edition for PC and PS2 to their sortiment. For PC there will be a Collector's Edition and a normal version - released on DVD.
We can expect Amazon.co.uk to update their sites too.
Exclusive Collector's Edition Content - Featuring three new cars, ten specially tuned cars, six new races, ten exclusive vinyl kits, and a bonus DVD containing behind-the-scenes footage on the making of the game.

| NFSMW: WCG National Finals USA |

 The World Cyber Games recently announced that the location for the National Finals USA will take place in the Aladdin Hotel (which will be renamed to Planet Hollywood Sheraton soon) in Las Vegas from 15th to 17th September.
 The best 175 gamers from all states compete for the largest prize purse in WCG USA tournament history over $75,000 and the chance to represent their country as members of Team USA at the WCG Grand Final in Monza, Italy.
The roster of official games for the WCG 2006 season consist of six PC games and two console games including: StarCraft: Brood War (PC); Warcraft: Frozen Throne (PC); Half-Life: Counter-Strike 1.6 (PC); Warhammer 40,000: Winter Assault (PC); FIFA Soccer 06 (PC); Need for Speed : Most Wanted (PC); Dead or Alive 4 (Xbox 360) and Project Gotham Racing 3 (Xbox 360). Promotional Xbox 360 games at the WCG USA Championship include Halo 2, MLB 2K6 and Geometry Wars: Retro Evolved.
Organizers expect up to 700 of the world's best gamers will travel to Monza, Italy, in October, 2006, to participate in the Grand Final of the most prestigious e-Sports competition and enjoy a well-rounded festival designed to promote culture and social harmony among world gamers.

 Several onlineshops already attached packshots of Need for Speed Carbon to their articles, but unfortunately only in really small resolutions.
At least when EA officially publishes the packshots we can show you pictures in higher quality than the one you can see to your right. :)

At least in the USA Electronic Arts will Publish a Collector's Edition of Need for Speed Carbon on the platforms PC, Xbox360 and PS2. They added to the product description in the EA Store some new information:

EA hasn't announced a Collector's Edition for Europe yet, but we hope there will be more available than last year's Black Edition for NFSMW just for PS2...

| NFS C: Big 20 minutes Video |

We have an exclusive NFS Carbon Video from our community member Brack. The video shows you 20 minutes long the PS2 demo of Need for Speed Carbon!
 It shows Autosculpt used on a Lamborghini Gallardo and a Circuit Race, where you can notice how similar NFS Carbon is to NFS Underground 2 and NFS Most Wanted. The second race is a Drift Race with a Chevrolet Camaro SS and at the end there is a Canyon Race with a Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution MR.

| NFS C: 2nd Part of the Carlist is coming |

Until now EA confirmed only 12 cars which will be available in Need for Speed Carbon. But this will change, because next week EA will publish the second part of the carlist, maybe around Tuesday.
