NFS PS: Faked (?) Pagani Zonda screenshot goes around |
Saturday, 08.09.2007 |
Today, a new supposed-to-be screenshot from Need for Speed Pro Street came up, showing a Pagani Zonda R. This is one appears most likely as a fake, because this "screen" matches to a concept picture by Pagani, just the NFSPS logo was placed over the designer's signature.
But see for yourself:

NFS PS: Videos, Previews & News to the Soundtrack |
Saturday, 08.09.2007 |
IGN revealed the first videos to the Wii version of Need for Speed Pro Street - that also clears up the origin of the low quality screens. You can spot the steering via Wiimote quite well because we've got off-screen movies here.
Besides, we've got infos to the soundtrack: The dutch DJ Junkie XL, whose "Action Radius" was already included in Need for Speed Underground, contributes his new single "More", which will be released through the by EA founded label Artwerk, to the NFSPS soundtrack.
In addition there are two more previews by IGN and GameTap, but they can't mess with Shocker's one - read the latter, if you haven't done it already. ;)

NFS PS: On the Spot - EA Studio Showcase 2007 |
Friday, 07.09.2007 |
The latest show of the webshow On the Spot from the onlinemagazine Gamespot was fully dedicated to Electronic Arts and its games. One of the guests was the NFS Producer John Doyle, who talked about the dragmode, the sharing of blueprints and the creation of Event-series, which we already reported here. Additionally the drift-mode was show, which should be pretty good playable with steering wheels.
John Doyle also mentioned the PSP-Version: Need for Speed ProStreet for PSP might will come out a little bit later than for the other platforms.
Either you watch the whole show (length is more than 2 hours) or you just jump the minute 101, where the part of Need for Speed ProStreet starts. :)
(Thanks to Renifer for the info.)
Update:
Gamespot published parts of the show as standalone videos, which show the drift- and dragmode in Need for Speed ProStreet. Click on the following links to watch the movies.

NFS PS: 3 new (low-quality?) Screenshots |
Thursday, 06.09.2007 |
We have three new screenshots of Need for Speed ProStreet, which seem to have a bit lower quality than the pictures from the high-end consoles we were used to. It's not sure, from which platform these screenshots were taken, but I think we can expect that they are from the Nintendo Wii or Playstation 2. According to EA the PC will be treated as an HD-platform this year, so we might can expact a moreless equal graphic as on Xbox 360 and PS3, as long as the hardware is good enough. And for a Nintendo DS or Sony PSP these shots look a bit too good...
Update:
Apparently the screenshots were taken from the Wii-version of the game.

NFS PS: First news about Drift and onlinemode! |
Thursday, 06.09.2007 |
The onlinemagazine IGN could test the drift- and dragmode of Need for Speed ProStreet and wrote their impressions in an article, which is available on their website.
Especially because there were no information about drift at all before, this paragraph might be interesting
Excerpt:
Drifting has also returned, though its differences are found underneath the hood. The development team started from scratch with the game's physics engine so drifting feels a fair bit different than what we saw in Carbon. Cars feel much heavier and more powerful, giving you better feedback while also not feeling like they're sliding around on ice. Scoring is still on a speed vs. angle basis rather than the types of drift maneuvers you perform, though you do get bonuses if you begin a drift with nitrous or can manage to put a long string together.
To help newcomers with drifting, there will be multiple levels of assists for these race types. On the most basic level, all you need to do is steer and play with the gas while drifting. Correctional assists will keep your car from spinning out too much, though also limit how far sideways you can push your car. When you start taking these assists away, you'll be able to play with the clutch for more maneuverability and be able to get your car sliding at insane angles, though this'll obviously take much more skill behind the wheel.
Additionally there is new information about the onlinemode in Need for Speed ProStreet:
Another cool element that we learned about today relates to the online play. You can set up a series of events for your friends to compete in, though they needn't play at the same time. Up to seven events can be queued, like two drift events and a couple standard races or what have you, and then after you save and upload the entire event others can go in and play them at will. The leaderboard for your event will be updated in realtime, so if you're in the game you'll get notified if someone bests your score as it happens. EA is planning on hosting their own events, with the hopes that prizes and such will be given out for the best racers.
It's not sure, whether this event series can be really used for a tournament system, but if so, every player can create their own tournaments or rankings without needing an external league system. This could have an impact on the e-sports scene, but we need to know more about that.
We can expect more news about the onlinemode within the next weeks, so stay tuned.

NFS PS: New Packshots |
Saturday, 01.09.2007 |
Electronic Arts now officially published the new packshots of Need for Speed ProStreet, which show how the game will look like, when you buy it. Compared to the first draft of the packshot the car was replaced by a ingame car, which doesn't look so damaged, but it has a few scratches. In the background you can see the cheering people of a race event.
NFS ProStreet is being released in North America on October 31st and in Europe on November 1st, 2007.
