NFS PS: Bugs in ProStreet - Statement Saturday, 19.01.2008
NFS Pro StreetElectronic Arts posted a statement to the submitted bugs of Need for Speed ProStreet, and as it seems they're working on a new patch:

Hey Guys,

I know you have all been itching for a response, status, progress, (basically anything!!). Once again the entire ProStreet team thanks you for your feedback, support in helping us recreate the problems, and continued patience with all of these issues. The comments, feedback, and game files that you have provided have all been instrumental in helping our team try to recreate and test these issues, and to come up with appropriate solutions. Please trust that we have not taken your concerns lightly and we have continually monitored these forums to investigate all of your issues.

Here is what I can share so far, and if anymore details come up I will be sure to let you all know as soon as info becomes available to me.

The 5 car problem will only happen in four HUBS in career. They are all located in Tier 3.

When a user goes into a Raceday HUB that allows you to take 5 cars (1 car per race type (4) + 1 backup), you need to make sure you don't carry any damage (level of damage doesn't matter) on all 5 cars and then save in the Raceday HUB. If you do, this will corrupt your save file.

They are all in the Super Promotion Tier:
- Nevada Highway Hub
- Autobahnring Hub
- Autobahnring Showdown Hub
- Tokyo Expressway Hub (DLC hub)

We are working for fixes for this bug in an upcoming patch.

PS3 and PC Issues:

We will be issuing future patches for both platforms in order to address the problems that some of you have encountered. The team has found that the "unlockallthings" code has been linked to some of the problems that users have described such as random crashes and car customization. Please note that the "unlockallthings" code is not an official code and the team will not be supporting fixes for this code. We have however, confirmed that the new car bundles were not related to any of the issues and therefore we will be releasing the new Car Bundles on the Playstation STORE by next Thursday. We are working 'round the clock to get the new patches out, and are working with first party ie: Sony in order to get a clearer timeline on when we can release them.

Xbox 360 Extender Pack:

In light of the issues that we have seen with the PS3 and PC patch, the team decided it was best to delay the release of the Xbox 360 extender pack in order to do more thorough testing and to ensure that it goes out without the same issues that were experienced on PS3 and PC. As a result of this, we will be releasing the Xbox 360 Extender pack some time in mid- February. We're working with Microsoft to provide a more precise date.

I hope this helps to somewhat understand where we are and what we are currently doing to help you guys have a better ProStreet experience. I will always provide more information whenever it becomes available. Once again a big thank you to all of you who have been so patient thus far.

NFS PS: Some details about the PSP-Version Friday, 18.01.2008
NFS Pro StreetNeed for Speed ProStreet was released on all big platforms already last year, but the PSP-version is being awaited for end of February 08. The onlinemagazine IGN made an interview with Gregg McGillivray, the Assistant Producer of NFSPS for the Playstation Portable.

In this interview Gregg revealed some exclusive features for this version, like Driver Intuition, Driver Personas and Speed Mode. In the core the PSP-version is a port of the console-version with more less the same features, like a complete damage model.

But if you take a closer look at the "exclusive" features, there is not so much difference to the regular version. "Driver Personas" is nothing but choosing the difficulty, only that they have the names "Speed King", "Weekend Warrior" and "Adrenaline Junkie". How many assists are enabled, is defined by the "Driver Intuition", like for example the highlighting of the ideal path. "Players choosing the Adrenaline Junkie setting will only see this driving line appear around the most difficult corners, whereas Speed King will allow the driver to toggle this feature on and off as they see fit."

Also the new "Speed Mode" sounds a bit familiar:

Besides Circuit and Grip races, there are also Speed Mode events exclusive to this version. Speed Trap is a mode where racers must race through checkpoints at the highest possible speed to win. Lap Knockout and Gate Knockout are both races where the last person to cross the checkpoint will be eliminated. And finally, Time Attack is a time-based mode where players must race against the clock to reach the next checkpoint. We've tried to add a large variety of events for on-the-go racing on the PSP.

Apart from that, Gregg also announced a new Race Maps Mode. With this mode you can check the schematics of all tracks you've raced. You can see the path you've driven and compare it to the ideal driving line, as well as "zoom in close anywhere on the track to analyze how you drove and where you crashed. It's a cool feature that really allows players to see how they've done and help improve their performance in the future."

ProStreet gets dubious honors Wednesday, 02.01.2008
NFS Pro StreetThe onlinemagazine Gamespot honors the best games from 2007 in many different categories. Users could vote for their beloved games and additionally the onlinemagazine published "Editor's Choice Winners" in every categoriy.
The Game of the Year 2007 is - according to the user votings - Forza Motorsport 2 (X360), the Editor's Choice Winner is Super Mario Galaxy (Wii).

Need for Speed ProStreet was nominated in only one category, which is unfortunately one of the "Dubious Honors" categoriy: Most Despicable Use of In-Game Advertising
While users voted clearly for Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock (57 %) to get this negative-award, the Editor's Choice Winner is Need for Speed ProStreet.

But maybe the guys from Gamespot didn't really understand the game, because in their comment they say that auto racing is a sport with much advertising, but NFS ProStreet is a street-racing game and "street racing isn't exactly the world's most popular, mainstream, televised sport".

Well, but the use of advertising in Xbox Live seems to be the determining factor for this decision:

Likewise, Need for Speed ProStreet isn't exactly an example of in-game advertising restraint. Playing the game offline isn't all that offensive, but as soon as you jump on to Xbox Live, the deluge begins. Aside from the fact that the game gives you the option to flat-out pay $25 in real money to unlock advanced cars (and get an unfair advantage over players who start from the bottom), and that it constantly pesters you with this "option" each time you go to buy an in-game car, the game has dynamic ads that start downloading the very first time you get online. What's worse and even more ridiculous is that the game's Xbox Live achievement points have ads attached to them. That's right, even the achievements in this game are brought to you by a commercial sponsor. This kind of obnoxious salesmanship really hurts the game experience and makes ProStreet a lock for this category.
