NFS PS: Obama In-Game Advertising |
Thursday, 16.10.2008 |
In-Game Advertising is nothing unusual nowadays, but when the US presidential candidate Barrack Obama shows up in video games, it's a bit unexpected. As it seems Obama targets young gamers and runs campaigns in selected EA games. So if you're driving through Burnout Paradise, it can happen that Barrack Obama is smiling from a billboard in the game:
But this campain is not limited to Burnout Paradise - Obama is also advertising in Need for Speed ProStreet, Madden 09, Nascar 09 und NHL 09. Quite innovative, considering that election campaigns are mostly conservative.

NFS Undercover featuring RPG elements! |
Wednesday, 15.10.2008 |
At the end of September we had the opportunity to take a short look at a newer build of the upcoming Need for Speed Undercover in Munich, Germany. Among other things we were introduced into the so-called Wheelman Skills for the first time.
Basically, this is some kind of an award system well-known from several role playing games: With every finished race your abilities like engine, transmission or reduced dealership prices, will be improved according to race progress, so you can take advantage of reduced shifting times or higher top speed in future (multiplayer) races.
For those of you being bothered by the graphic errors and pixelated shadows in the gameplay videos: Producer Jesse Abney affirmed that work on the graphics engine is not yet finished and fixing stuff like above is still on schedule. In addition, the version I was able to play looks in my opinion already better than the gameplay videos and the GC demo version did.
Additionally we have some new pictures in our screenshots-section:

NFS UC: Featuring Nissan 370Z? |
Tuesday, 14.10.2008 |
According to Worldcarfans, the new Nissan 370Z could celebrate its debut in Need for Speed Undercover:
Suspense for the new Nissan 370Z is building prior to its world debut in Los Angeles next month. Covert camera phone images along with recent spy photos in Germany clearly show a completely new vehicle with new details particularly found in the roof line, largely flared wheel arches and new boomerang tail light design.
This morning we found in our inbox an image sent to us from a reader. It is a screenshot of the video trailer for the latest Need for Speed: Undercover video game by EA Games. The screenshot shows one of the “bad guy” characters standing in front of the yet to be released Nissan 370Z revealing these new details.
It wouldn't be too unrealistic, as EA did the same thing with the Nissan GT-R in Need for Speed ProStreet. We will see, if this car is really the Nissan 370Z - or just the 350Z.
