Rumours about NFS 2011 Friday, 02.07.2010
A new Need for Speed is in development for the first quarter 2011, which we already reported » here. It seemed, that this new title could be Need for Speed Shift 2. The former EA employee Chris Mcclure poured some oil into the fire, by writing in his » LinkedIn CV, that he worked from August 2009 until February 2010 on an open world technology as well as on Need for Speed Shift 2. Shortly after that, the number "2" disappeared and Mcclure apologizes and explained it was a typo...well, maybe it was, maybe not...

Apart from that, another EA employee, » Rees Savidis, posted in his profile on LinkedIn the following:

Recently, I've worked on world concepts and narrative fiction for a new IP at Electronic Arts Blackbox and helped to develop the fiction and characters for the 2011 instalment in the AAA "Need For Speed" franchise.

It's hard to say if this is really NFS Shift 2, since the classic NFS Shift didn't have any characters, so it's not likely, that NFS Shift suddenly becomes a narrative story.

Anyway, we'll keep you updated.
