NFS The Run: 7 cars exclusive on Playstation 3 Saturday, 12.11.2011
The RunNeed for Speed The Run offers a pretty neat car selection, which gets extended by pre-order specials and Limited Editions. (Or trimmed, but this is a matter of opinion.. ;))

As Sony recently » announced, there will be 7 supercars in NFS The Run, which will be exclusive on the Playstation 3:

- Bugatti Veyron Super Sport
- Hennessey Venom GT
- GUMPERT apollo s
- Lamborghini Countach QV5000
- Koenigsegg Agera R
- Lexus LFA
- Porsche Carrera GT

Bugatti Veyron

This makes the carlist a little bit confusing, which cars will be where available. We updated our carlist with marked entries, which will be available in the Limited Editions and which are exclusive on PS3. (at least what we know)
Only the Lexus LFA, which should be a PS3 exclusive according to Sony, seems to be a regular car according to the carlist at » NeedforSpeed.com...

NFS The Run: Customization and Unlocks Saturday, 12.11.2011
The RunAs expected the customization in Need for Speed The Run will be a little reduced - the focus lies on your "Race for your Life", rather than showing off your pretty car. As already mentioned in our preview article you can change the color of your car and customize a little bit with 2-3 body-kits per car, designed by the Black Box Car Team.

You can unlock the body-kits by playing through the game and sucessfully finishing the Challenge-Series.

Additionally there will be special "Need for Speed Edition" cars - special performance-getuned cars that can keep up with almost every other car in NFS The Run.

Interview with NFS The Run Producer Alex Grimbley Friday, 11.11.2011
The RunGamerzines sat down with Alex Grimbley, Producer of Need for Speed The Run and made an interview in three parts.

In this interview he talks about the development of Need for Speed The Run, the cars, rubberbands, out-of-the-car sequences and the difference between PC and consoles.

Excerpt:
GZ: The Frostbite engine has gotten a positive response from how it looks on PC, but with regards to consoles the feedback has been mixed. Do you foresee NFS: The Run looking better on PC than consoles?

AG: Every game looks better on PC, doesn’t it? As you can spend £5,000 on hardware or whatever.

GZ: True, but most of the time the differences are negligible due to most games being developed primarily for the Xbox 360, then they port to PC and chuck in support for a few extra visual options. Are you guys following that formula?

AG: We concentrate on all the platforms during development, we don’t go crazy on one build and then the others catch up. We go through it step by step as the game goes through development, it’s the same group of guys. I think what you’re picking up on is that if certain games look the same on PC as they do on consoles, they aren’t putting their energy into PC. So the fact that you’re picking up on the fact that the PC version looks great then that just means the effort has been put into that, because people spend $5,000 on their setup and obviously it’s going to be more impressive than the $200 console. I think what you’re saying is just a reflection of the extra effort on the PC.

GZ: Have you guys made that extra effort with The Run?

AG: Yeah when you put the PC version on Ultra settings it looks amazing, but we think the console versions look amazing as well! It’s such a cool engine to work with, it was easy to work with. We’ve been working with DICE for two and a half years on it as well, so I think it’s one of the best looking racing games. Some of those moments when you come round a corner and the sun hits the camera…

GZ: And the sandstorms…

AG: Yeah I love that, you’re trying to peer through ahead and then you see some headlights coming towards you!

GZ: Are there other tricks like that which modify the core racing experience?

AG: There are lots! Obviously there’s the avalanche part in the demo as well. I’m not going to tell you what they are, but there’s plenty of ways we can mix it up. There’s some urban stuff too which is pretty cool, it’s just little things like the train at the beginning which we use as the starting point. We start with that train and then ramp up to an avalanche falling on your head, so we do anything between those two really.

NFS The Run: Soundtrack Tuesday, 08.11.2011
The RunThe soundtrack of Need for Speed The Run was announced, which you'll be listening to as you speed across the United States.

However, it's worth noting that unlike previous Need for Speed titles the soundtrack offers an interactive experience and seamlessly blends into the current events:

The soundtrack reflects our main character Jack's experiences and races. It's an integral part of the story of the game. The songs are seamlessly combined with a full score by Hollywood composer Brian Tyler ("Fast Five, Battle for Los Angeles") to create the ultimate Need for Speed music experience. The soundtrack is strongly influenced by American regional styles, reflecting the San Francisco to New York race.

In other words, depending on where you are in the game, you'll hear different songs to match the location, intensity, and mood of The Run!

Michael Bay's Need for Speed The Run TV Commercial Saturday, 05.11.2011
The RunThe new TV trailer of Need for Speed The Run, created by star director Michael Bay was unlocked early in a community event:

From the killer slow-motion shots to the signature explosions, this trailer has Michael Bay’s touches all over it. The team was thrilled to have him work on this, as he really brings an incredible cinematic flare that puts this video head and shoulders above any game trailer we’ve done so far.

Michael Bay is known for his music videos, tv-commercials and (especially in the last years) for directing blockbusters like Transformers, Pearl Harbor, Armageddon and many more.

NFS The Run: Multiplayer Modes Revealed Wednesday, 02.11.2011
The RunIn addition to the recently released » NFS The Run Multiplayer Trailer the onlinemagazine Gamerzines revealed more details about the multiplayer modes in Need for Speed The Run:

A nice new feature from EA Black Box is to let you join a race in progress, which just drops you off directly on the track at the last checkpoint - certainly much nicer than having to wait in the lobby for other players.

Additionally a badge-based reward system was added, which gives you extra experience points when certain goals are met in races:

"Some are for rewarding good behaviour like starting last and finishing first, whereas others function more like a consolation prize, for instance scraping more barriers than anyone else – but it’s all in good fun and works towards unlocking new cars, icons and backgrounds to customise your online profile."

As shown in the multiplayer trailer the new "Wheel of Fortune" gets spun during every online championship to "determine rewards for those that finish in the top three or the entire field, which vary from cars to bonus XP offering an incentive to finish the multi-race championship, rather than quit out when you know you aren’t going to win.

Very interesting new features - and they will be a nice addition to the following multiplayer game modes in Need for Speed The Run, as revealed on » Gamerzines:

1. Supercar Challenge: This series is described by the game as supporting “the fastest cars on the fastest tracks”, so players should expect the most extravagant four-wheeled creations in this set list. Fastest track could essentially mean anything, but we suspect the tight, windy courses are out and the grand freeways are in, to allow the supercars to get to top speed.

2. NFS Edition Racing: Players can only race specific cars which belong to the NFS edition range. So expect the likes of the Lamborghini Aventador, Chevrolet Camero ZL1 and the Porsche 911 Carrera S to be mixing it up on track, among others.

3. The Underground: Now this series is more for the tricked out street motors, most of which are much more likely to be in our price range. Expect the likes of the Nissan 370Z, Mazda MX-5, Volkswagen GTI Mk1 and BMW M3 E30 Sport Evolution to be prominent in this one.

4. Mixed Competition: This series is open to all cars regardless of class.

5. Exotic Sprint: As the name suggest this series is only open to the exotic cars like the Aston Martin One-77 and the Lamborghini Gallardo LP550-2 Valentino Balboni.

6. Car Battles: Last but not least we have a series revolving around the car battle event which also features in the single-player campaign. Unlike the other series which all consist of races, this event is all about catching up to a player ahead, overtaking them and pulling out a lead in order to eliminate them before a timer runs out. Unfortunately we didn’t get to sample this mode online.

If you want to know more about the multiplayer modes, read the article on Gamerzines under the following link.
