Diese Woche ist Need for Speed Shift für iPhone und iPod Touch erschienen! Naturgemäß hat die mobile Fassung ein paar Abstriche gegenüber seinen großen Brüdern erfahren, aber mit 20 lizensierten Wagen, 18 Rennstrecken und 20 Soundtracks ist das Spiel eines der besseren iPhone Spiele. Auch die Testberichte sparen nicht mit Lob und bezeichnen das Spiel als gelungene Umsetzung. Ein Nachteil könnte allerdings sein, dass nur Besitzer eine iPhone 3GS in den vollen Genuss der Grafikeffekte kommen - dafür sind diese sehenswert, wie Kotaku schreibt: It's Sooo Pretty: I really wish I could afford an iPhone 3Gs — the graphics were smooth enough to make me want to lick the touch screen. Never lick your touch screen — aside from being plain gross, it's dangerous. Do you have any idea how much bacteria is on that thing? Auch das englischsprachige Onlinemagazin IGN ist von dem Spiel sehr angetan: I thought only console players saw their triple-A games bunched up in the fourth quarter of the year, but it seems the App Store is enjoying a similar bounty in 2009. Hands down the best iPhone racer since Real Racing, Need for Speed Shift offers a superlative single-player career that will keep your hands glued to your iPhone for hours. As somebody that is still enjoying Shift on the Xbox 360, seeing such a strong translation to the iPhone is exceedingly heartening. Well done.
