Nachdem die Spielemesse E3 Expo in Los Angeles zu Ende ist, gibt es wie jedes Jahr wieder die E3 Awards. Das Spiel Need for Speed Hot Pursuit 2 ist 
lediglich in der Kategorie Best Racing Game nominiert, und wird es nicht leicht haben, gegen unter anderem Colin McRae Rally 3 oder Sega GT 2002. Die Gewinner werden am 18. Juni 2002 bekanntgegeben.
