NFSUnlimited got a new design |
Saturday, 29.06.2002 |
It was hard to me to see all the time the bad news about NFSCheats, but here is a good one: Our affiliate NFSUnlimited got a new design, which has not so many colors, but now it is a fresh blue, much better for the hot summer days. :)
Check it out:

NFSCheats closed |
Thursday, 27.06.2002 |
One of the best known Need for Speed sites NFSCheats.com closes down. The boards and the subsite NFSDesign will remain open, but NFSCheats will be closed for an undetermined amount of time.
This is the original message:
Due to time, staffing issues, and design considerations,
I have decided to close NFSCheats for an undetermined amount
of time until these problems are resolved. Our forums
will remain open and you can continue to get downloads from
NFS Design (the largest and possibly oldest file source
for nfs3, nfs4, and nfs5 on the internet).
While we are closed, a restructurization of all areas of the
site will occur. This will include the removal of staff,
the removal of defunct content, additions to the main
interface, additional features, and reformating to improve
the overall feel of the site to return it to a somewhat
decent NFS website.
[sarcasm]Also I want to give one big shoutout to EA for
supporting the community by providing support and news for
us throughout the years.[/sarcasm]

NFS 5: Images again online |
Wednesday, 26.06.2002 |
Because of problems with the harddisk of the server, approximately 50 % of all images of the Addon-Cars for Need for Speed Porsche were kist. But since yesterday all images are again available. If you find an image, which doesn't show up, please contact me.

NFS 6: NFS HP 2 on TV |
Wednesday, 19.06.2002 |
Today Need for Speed Hot Pursuit 2 has been presented on TV in GIGA Games, a German computer broadcast. I just could view it only over the internet with webstreaming, so the quality was really bad but there are a few things that were really interesting.
1. Keith Munro, the Marketing Director EA Canada, who was a guest, said that NFS HP 2 will be released for Playstation 2 within the first week of October. This is quite strange, because Electronic Arts Netherlands said, it will be released earlier.
2. The first time you could see the damage model of the cars, and Keith Munro said you will be able do damage the whole body of the car. And when you are very damaged, your car will smoke.
3. A total new feature are the so-called 'Speedlines'. Here the car stops and the camera moves back for about two- threehundred meters, the track your drove, and then you can see some kind of red glowing line, the line you drove. Then the camera returns back to your car along the line, in a spectacular way. Like the 360° turn of the camera you can use this feature by hitting a button. The 360 ° turn will appear automatically, when you make a high jump or some other stunt, but you will be able to turn it off.
4. The splitscreen is back! Keith Munro also played the Hot Pursuit Mode on the splitscreen, which was not available in NFS 5. But now it is back, and it looks really great!
5. The Pursuit Mode will containt a helicopter, which will intercept in the happenings and is also trying to stop your car...with bombs and rockets!
The police cars will have a nitroboost, which will make it more difficult to escape.
6. There will be some differences between the versions of the different platforms, because of the two development teams (Black Box Games and EA Seattle). The Playstation 2 version will contain more tracks (actually I don't know how many exactly), but the other versions will have an additional carrer mode: the "Cop-Mode".
7. The specs for the pc version are: Pentium II 450 Mhz, and at least a 16MB graphic card, DirectX 8 compatible.
(Thanks to Mooff for some more infos)
Finally I just can say that Need for Speed Hot Pursuit 2 is really a great game, and the graphics are really incredible. I hope it will be released soon.

NFS 6: Release date in the USA |
Thursday, 13.06.2002 |
Some time ago we wrote about the release date for Need for Speed Hot Pursuit 2, which is set at September 6th 2002. But this is only true for Europe, because in America the game will be available already October 24th!
And concerning the Matrix-Effect: It will exist in the game, but it won't happen all the time. There will be a button to turn it on.
The Matrix-effect is when the frame freetes and the camera does a 360° turn around the car. You can see it very good in some movies.
