Info: Fatal crash linked to NFS |
Saturday, 28.01.2006 |
Once again racing games are in the center of discussion. According to an article at TheStar.com this week two 18-year old teenagers were racing a pair of Mercedes Benzes through one of the city’s wealthiest neighbourhoods, reaching speeds of 140 kilometres an hour in a 50-kilometre zone.
While making a left turn a taxi was struck, killing the 46-year-old driver Tahir Khan.
Despite finding a copy of Need for Speed in one of the suspect's car, Toronto police Det. Paul Lobsinger stressed the game wasn’t solely to blame. "Look, in the proper perspective . . . if everyone imitated a videogame such as that, we’d have to ban cars," he said.
Both drivers are charged with criminal negligence causing death.

NFSMW: Mobile Releasedate unknown | Partnership with Amp'd |
Thursday, 12.01.2006 |
Initially Electronic Arts planned to publish Need for Speed Most Wanted in cooperation with Vodafone Live! for mobile phones. As our german affiliate NFS-Action came to know, the releasedate of this version is is still unknown, according to EA UK. This is quite suspicious, because in 2005 EA planned to release the mobile edition in December 2005.
You'll find screenshots of this version in our screenshots-section.
Therefore Electronic Arts announced a partnership with Amp'd Mobile, the first mobile entertainment company created to bring next-gen broadband wireless services for youth/young adults. The partnership will bring over 15 mobile games from EA’s most popular franchises to Amp’d Mobile’s 3G handsets in early 2006.
Amp’d Mobile is the first mobile service to offer consumers a dedicated game channel around the EA brand, showcasing video previews, user ratings, game wallpapers, ring tones and other mobile content alongside each EA game download.
The publishing agreement will introduce Amp’d Mobile subscribers to EA’s most popular titles, beginning with Fifa 06, Madden NFL 06, NBA Live 06, Need for Speed Underground 2, and Tiger Woods PGA Tour 06.
