Outlook on the next Need for Speed |
Wednesday, 13.02.2008 |
The next Need for Speed won't be a successor of the ProStreet style, instead it should be oriented on earlier NFS games. In a presentation to industry analysts, EA Games president Frank Gibeau gave a short outlook on the next Need for Speed:
While a new Need for Speed in development isn't surprising (the franchise has been annualized since 2002's Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit 2), Gibeau did give the analysts an early look at the direction EA would be taking with the next installment of the series.
Noting that sales of last year's Need for Speed ProStreet didn't live up to EA's hopes for the game, Gibeau said he thinks it was because the series drifted too far from what consumers expected. ProStreet had dropped the tuner culture and police evasion aspects of previous installments in favor of perfectly legit closed track racing. For the next Need for Speed, Gibeau promised that the series would be getting back to its roots with a number of features, including open-world racing and a new highway battle mode.

request for more features
in addition to comment #6, i think a "gas tank" meter would be good... you can race all you want but you must gas up or fuel up before any race... this would be great for all vehicles including the cops... gas up when you see a gas station etc... very realistic

Yeah ... this should be better than any of the NFS but we will wait some time ... we will need some fast pcs and after all this EA to hit us with something ugly ! Hope I will be totally wrong. IMO if they will make perfect gfx for the NFSU2 and will add some of new features from the nfsmw, nfsc and nfsps will become something reallygood !

FINALLY!!!!!!!
Dont tell me EA have ACTUALLY listened to the public?!!? HOLY CRAP THE WORLDS COMING TO AN END LOL!
Anywho.
This is good to hear, although again...we are miles of from, november again I assume, its good to here there going back to there routes, heres some ideas:
NFSU3:...could work, but i would like to see a full day/night cycle, i'd like to see some different kinds of cops, bring that helicopter back, inttroduce the whole eleltrical discharge thingies like on F&F or something.
Or most wanted 2:
Provide us with better, faster, more accurate cops, give us masses of variety races, much larger care spectrum, 40 at least of 4 new classes:
Tuner
Muscle
Exotic
Heavy
Lol racing trucks and SUV's would be fun xD. Try to balance them out better, so everyone doesnt go grabbing the lambos or the astons or the carrera GTS ASAP. Give us some ferrari's, some massseraties, give us the REAL engine sounds of these guys, give more variety of sound, if your giving us stage 4 parts, make them effect the car both visually and audiobly.
I'd love to see a ford T drag car.
As for this highway battle mode, man that sounds cool, could be like drag mode on steroids.
I want those 20/30/40 car city battle races to come back, where a whole army of cars are racing from one side of the city to the other, findings the quickest routes etc. Put us in control of the police is SINGLE PLAYER as maybe some kind of "pathway" you can choose to take if you get arrested etc, start of with your slow crappy cruisers (which were actually good lol) and work your way up through faster, stronger, better police vehicles, possibly even tuning them, all the way up to the use of heavies, like the SUV's, and SWAT vans and even the HELI to take down those most 1337 of races.
Give us a proper, reliable, working, fun, easy to use multiplayer that people WILL play. Keep the damage system but make it better, make us be able to pop individual tires on spike strips, make us loose our tires, and our body parts, and doors and everything, make us be able to practically destroy our cars, crush them, blow them up if neccesary, provide a more reasonable repair system, as well as markers, dont give us so many, maybe 5 each, use REP or something...
As for free roam just make is massive! But of course allow us to skip straight to the event if we want to
Well thats all my ranting done for now lol ;D, now we wait....

I still think that they should bring back MCO, ( motor city online ) for all you that didnt know. It was a great game and was moreintune with team racing and group race help, not messangers and socalled onling areas and terms. The whole game was online and was linked to others that loved the muscle cars that started the whole street racing scene. I know that alot of people would love to see it come back and I really would love to have my old friends back
