Selling MCO stuff @ Ebay is not allowed any more Wednesday, 26.12.2001
Some players have sold their virtual cars, parts or money of Motor City Online at the auction site Ebay. Michael Waite now writes, that the team has watched the auctions with a mixture of amusement and concern. They were amused because it's cool to see in-game goods take on real-world value. But they're concerned because these transactions are happening in an environment where they have no control over the tools or policies. And since they can't control it, nor can they support it.

And because of that reason they made a new policy:
All activities taking place outside of the game environment (i.e., outside of Electronic Arts properties) are illegal, and will not be supported by the MCO staff. While we don't actively police eBay and similar sites, nor will we respond to player complaints that involve transactions made outside the MCO environment. Players who choose to use these sites do so at their own risk. All in-game items (cars, parts, cash, etc.) are the property of Electronic Arts, and the MCO managers reserve the right to remove these items from the inventory of any player who has broken MCO's Terms of Service… regardless of how much real-world money was paid on eBay.
